For all the reasons listed above, LaTeX is required for most math and physics journal submissions. It is also required for all work in this class. Admittedly, it's easier at first to use a word processor than it is to use LaTeX. It is also easier at first to use a rat-tail file than a milling machine. Think about it... And who knows: you might ---like me--- find yourself writing everything in LaTeX once you learn it!
