Writing/Reviewing

For three labs, you will need to write up a full lab report describing what you've done. These lab reports should be written as if they were submissions for American Journal of Physics. (Please peruse some sample articles if you're uncertain of the format to be used.) The first of these three labs is the "Wavelength of a Laser" lab from week one. The last is your final project. The middle one is your choice.

The other labs should be documented with a short 1-2 page summary report.

One of the "full reports" must be submitted to the Journal of Undergraduate Laboratory Physics Investigations, AKA JAUPLI. JAUPLI is an unpublished journal, set up by Mark Masters and Tim Grove at IPFW, which allows students to gain experience in writing, submitting, and reviewing articles for scientific journals. It's just like a real journal: web submission, peer review, letters back and forth to the editor, and eventual acceptance or rejection of the article; it lacks only the expensively-published final product. You are encouraged to get feedback from your classmates and from Dr. Ayars before submitting your work to JAUPLI. As members of the JAUPLI community, You will also be asked several times over the semester to review the work of other students, both here and from other universities. This reviewing work is part of your course.

Remember:

All written work must be submitted as a pdf created in LaTeX.
