I build wooden kayaks.

For reasons not entirely clear to those who don't do this sort of thing --"Normal people", my wife calls them-- I find it quite entertaining to build beautiful wooden kayaks from cedar strips. They're high-performance, low-weight boats that are suitable for regular use on camping/touring trips or day-paddling excursions, fresh water or salt. I've even played in the waves a bit with #1, though at 17' long it's a bit awkward for surfing.
