Sensor: Hydreon optical rain sensor

Summary: The purpose of our project is to investigate the precision, accuracy, resolution and response time of a Hydreon Optical Rain Sensor. Through the use of both natural and artificial rain systems both observed out in the field and built within our lab sessions we were able to evaluate these means. The conclusion derived from these results can help to implement how valuable and reliable these sensors can be both in everyday use and agricultural practices for regulating the amount of water coming from the atmosphere to the ground. The data is collected out in the field and then run through the Arduino and MatLab into a consumable variable, there are a multitude of settings spanning from simple drop detection to tipping bucket modeling.
