Sensor: Modern Device Hot Wire Wind Sensor Rev. P

Summary: We are experimenting with a hotwire anemometer to read wind speeds. This anemometer works differently than a cup anemometer, because this anemometer uses a heating element that heats to a contstant temperature, then measures the electrical power used to maintain the heated element temperature. We are comparing this anemometer to three different anemometers, which all use different techiques to measure wind speed. The end goal of this project is to characterize the anemometer, meaning we will determine the response time, accuracy, and precision of this anemometer. This will be done through various experiments at different, constant wind speeds. We are doing these experiments to see how viable this sensor is, and if it works well enough to conduct field work compared to other, trusted wind anemometers.
