Welcome to the GEOS 440 Team 6 webpage for the Fall 2022 semester.

Sensor: AS7262 6-Channel Visible Light / Color Sensor Breakout
Summary: Our exciting project consists of using our AS7262 6-Channel Visible Light / Color Sensor Breakout to measure the color of leaves this fall 2022. Our main objective is to use this sensor to see how fast our leaves change color and what colors are seen on these leaves. We will be collecting data twice a week from several different tree species on campus. We collect leaves from the North, East, and South sides of the trees. This will allow us to see if the leaf placement on a tree has any effect on their color evolution in the fall.
We used a soldering iron that we learned how to use earlier in the semester to attach pins to the visible light/ color sensor. This then allowed us to plug the sensor into a breadboard. We then used the ada fruit website instructions to wire the sensor to our arduino. The website also provided the code needed to run the sensor and allow us to read the levels of 6 colors (Red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet). Now our sensor reads the colors on anything that is directly in front of it. We will use the data collection methods discussed to visibly watch how the color is changing in the fall leaves..
